Bhubaneswar: The Hirakud Dam has opened four more gates, bringing the total number of gates opened to 14, due to heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas.
As a result, the dam is now releasing 1,33,053 cusecs of water. The water level in the reservoir currently stands at 626.23 feet, with an inflow of 2,15,644 cusecs.
People living in low-lying areas have been advised to remain cautious and avoid venturing into the riverbed during the release of floodwater.
On the other hand, good news for tourists that Hirakud reservoir will offer a fresh and exciting experience from November 15. An eco-retreat will be organized on Jamadarpali Island from November 15 to February 12. Visitors can enjoy a floating restaurant and resort, as well as various water sports, cruise services, and boat houses. This new development is set to enhance the scenic beauty and attractions of the Hirakud reservoir.
