Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken several key decisions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable Durga Puja celebration in the city. In a preparatory meeting, it was decided that obscene dance performances would be strictly prohibited during the Puja festivities.
The BMC has emphasised the importance of parking, stating that no Meena Bazaar will be allowed to operate without adequate parking facilities. Additionally, no permission will be granted for Ravana podi without proper parking arrangements. The Puja will be free of plastic, and the Puja committee will not be allowed to erect barriers on main roads.
Control rooms will be opened at all immersion points, and ambulances will be deployed for emergency services. The police department will distribute awareness messages about the dangers of smoking in Puja pavilions. The BMC has also prioritised infrastructure improvements, with a focus on repairing electric poles and wires, as well as road maintenance. A deadline has been set for completing all road repairs before the Puja, and Rs 5 lakh has been allocated to each ward for repairing potholes.
The BMC Commissioner has also instructed the removal of stray dogs from Puja pavilions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors. These decisions were made in a meeting attended by senior officials from various departments, including the police, Watco, and the fire brigade.
