Subhadra Scheme: Ineligible Beneficiaries To Face Action As Govt Directs For Data Verification

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has taken a significant step to address allegations of ineligible beneficiaries in its flagship Subhadra Yojana scheme.

The Department of Women and Child Development has written to the Commerce and Transport Department to verify the list of beneficiaries who own four-wheelers, amid complaints of lakhs of ineligible people joining the scheme.

The controversy has sparked widespread criticism, with many eligible women alleging that they have been left out of the scheme.

The government has directed the Commerce and Transport Department to verify the details of beneficiaries who own four-wheelers from the vehicle database and submit a report. Similarly, the Health Department has been asked to provide details of deceased beneficiaries, while the Food Supply Department has been directed to verify the details of women registered with the department who sell rice.

The Subhadra Yojana, launched on September 17 last year, aims to provide financial assistance to women in Odisha.

However, the allegations of ineligible beneficiaries and exclusion of eligible women have raised concerns about the scheme’s implementation. The government’s move to verify the list of beneficiaries and exclude ineligible individuals is seen as a step towards ensuring transparency and fairness in the scheme’s implementation.
