Hirakud Dam Opens Four More Gates To Release Excess Water

Bhubaneswar: The Hirakud Dam authorities have opened four more gates to release excess water from the reservoir, bringing the total number of open gates to 24. The decision comes in response to the heavy inflow of floodwater from the Mahanadi River’s upper catchment area.

With the increased water release, there is a likelihood of flooding in the Mahanadi riverbed areas downstream. People living in these areas are advised to exercise caution and stay away from the riverbed to ensure their safety.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to manage the floodwater effectively.

The authorities have urged residents in riverine areas to take all necessary precautions to protect their properties and safety. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
