Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a man died after his car plunged into a canal near Sahajbahal village under the Rampur police station limits in Subarnapur district.
The incident took place when a Maruti Swift Dzire car lost control and veered off the road, plunging into a canal near Sahajbahal.
The driver, Rohi Da Singh, was a resident of Mayurbhanj. He was alone in the vehicle and got trapped inside as the car quickly submerged into the water. Locals informed the Rampur Fire Services team, which rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Singh was rescued from the vehicle in a critical condition and shifted to the Dunguripali Community Health Centre. However, he was declared dead.
The Rampur police launched an investigation into the accident after registering a case. The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
