Bhubaneswar: A numberless Innova car was found burnt on the Sonepur-Binika Main Road near Binika New Bazaar on Saturday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the car’s front tire had burst earlier, prompting the driver to stop and change it. However, another Innova car, which had been traveling ahead, returned to the scene, and the driver allegedly poured petrol on the stranded vehicle and set it ablaze using a matchstick before fleeing towards Rampur.
The fire was brought under control by the Binika fire department after local residents informed them about the incident.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that the car contained ganja, which also caught fire during the blaze.
The Binika police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the event. The authorities are trying to determine the motive behind the incident and identify those responsible.
The police are gathering evidence to piece together the events leading up to the fire.
