Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, the body of a 10-year-old girl, who went missing on Saturday, was found in a drain near her residence in Shyamsundarpur village under Angul Sadar police station in Angul district, on Sunday.
According to minor girl brother, the family began searching for her around 1 pm on Saturday after she went missing. Despite extensive efforts throughout the day and night, they were unable to locate her. On Sunday morning, during a search near the “Bhalu Khai” drain, her body was discovered.
“She was found naked, with injuries on her neck, ear, and eye. It appears she was raped and murdered,” her brother alleged.
Following the discovery, the Angul Sadar police promptly arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation. The girl’s father has filed a complaint, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Further action will be taken based on the autopsy findings,” said the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Angul Sadar police station.
