Hyena Attack Leaves 17 Injured In Mayurbhanj; Forest Dept On High Alert

Bhubaneswar: As many as 17 residents of Tinitia and Tulasiposi villages under Karanjia Forest Range in Mayurbhanj district after being mauled by a hyena.

According to the forest department, the hyena attack has left 15 people earlier, and on Tuesday morning, it attacked two more persons, injuring a youth and a woman. The two injured have been rescued and admitted to Karanjia Hospital for treatment.

The forest department has taken measures to mitigate the situation including conducting patrols with a rescue vehicle and making public announcements through microphones to raise awareness among villagers about the hyena’s presence.

The forest department is, meanwhile, working to capture or drive the hyena away from the area to prevent further attacks.
