Bhubaneswar: A 12-year-old boy died after being bitten by a snake at Purunakote village under Angul block on Tuesday.
The deceased woman has been identified as Chandan, son of Cheru Nayak of Purunakote village.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday night when Chandan was asleep with his mother at his home last night. However, around 11 pm, Chandan’s family saw a snake crawling over Chandan, and the family members killed the snake. Suspecting a snakebite, they performed traditional rituals and took him to a traditional healer of Mangala temple near Purunakote police station, where he became unconscious. As his condition worsened around 3 am, they admitted him to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital at 7 am on Tuesday by car.
On arrival, doctors at Angul DDH declared him dead. Upon receiving the news, the police reached the spot and registered an unnatural death case, performed post-mortem, and handed over the body to the family.
