Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths apprehended Rupchand Nayak, a Junior Assistant at the Office of the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Nicolson Forest Training School in Keonjhar district, while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a retired employee of the same institution.
According to a release issued by Odisha Vigilance Directorate, the bribe was allegedly demanded for preparing the retired employee’s final pension papers and arrear salary bill, which Nayak had been delaying despite repeated requests. Frustrated with the prolonged harassment, the complainant approached the Vigilance authorities who laid a trap for Nayak’s arrest.
Accordingly, a Vigilance team nabbed Nayak while taking bribe Rs 30,000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered from possession of accused Nayak and seized.
Following the trap, Vigilance launched simultaneous searches at two locations of Nayak from DA angle.
In this connection, Balasaore Vigilance registered a case (No 09/2025 under 7PC Amendment Act 2018. Investigation is in progress. Detailed report follows.
