Bhubaneswar: Two individuals were sentenced to life imprisonment for abducting a private company executive in Bhubaneswar in 2015.
The Additional District Session Judge-3 Himansu Sekhar Mallik has sentenced two kidnappers, Raghunath Maharana and Kalucharan Maharana, to life imprisonment for abducting a private company executive, Rabindra Barik, in 2015. The accused were found guilty based on eyewitness statements, police investigation reports, and scientific evidence.
The kidnapping took place in June 2015 in the Airfield police area of Bhubaneswar’s Kargil Road. The accused had demanded a ransom of Rs 7 lakh for Barik’s safe release, stemming from a long-standing dispute. Following the abduction, Barik’s father lodged a police complaint, which led to a thorough investigation and ultimately, the successful rescue of the victim.
