Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has suspended senior leader Prafulla Kumar Mallik from the party with immediate effect due to his involvement in anti-party activities.
“Sri Prafulla Kumar Mallik, Ex MLA Kamakhyanagar, District Dhenkanal is hereby suspended from Biju Janata Dal for his involvement in antiparty activities with immediate effect”, read the order issued by the Biju Janata Dal.
On Thursday, Mallik, a former minister and MLA, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the BJD’s functioning, stating that the party has failed to effectively serve as the main opposition in the state. He went a step further by threatening to resign from the party due to its perceived shortcomings.
BJD spokesperson Pratap Jena swiftly responded to Mallik’s remarks, labeling him an ‘opportunistic politician.
