Bhubaneswar: The Koraput district collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan on Friday formally launched the Odisha government’s flagship ‘Yashoda Yojana,’ aimed at providing care and protection to parentless, single-parent, and neglected children in the district.
The inauguration took place at Sadbhavana Hall, Koraput town, where Collector Mahajan, as the chief guest, highlighted the scheme as a landmark initiative focused on the education, security, and welfare of underprivileged children.
Addressing attendees, Collector Mahajan emphasised that the ‘Yashoda Yojana’ would offer immediate assistance while empowering children to build a brighter future. He outlined a detailed implementation roadmap, aiming to extend benefits to more eligible children through existing welfare programs such as the Education Support Programme and the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY). Under this scheme, identified children will receive educational benefits and be enrolled under the SSY to ensure financial security.
The launch event was attended by officials, child welfare representatives, educators, and local community members, who praised the initiative as a timely and much-needed intervention for vulnerable children in Koraput.
