Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today laid the foundation for 27 industrial projects across 12 districts, marking a new milestone in Odisha’s industrial growth story.
The projects, involving capital investment of over ₹25,000 crore, are expected to generate employment opportunities for more than 52,000 youth. The foundation-laying ceremony was organised by the Industries Department at the Convention Centre, OUAT.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the new projects reflect the growing trust of the industrial sector in Odisha. “Every investment coming to Odisha is a testimony to the confidence of industries in our policies and governance. We are committed to positioning Odisha as the manufacturing hub of eastern India by moving up the manufacturing value chain and producing high-value products that can compete globally,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s track record, Majhi noted that in just 15 months, his administration has approved 260 industrial projects worth ₹5.6 lakh crore, with the potential to create 3.6 lakh jobs.
During the same period, the foundation for 84 projects involving investments of over ₹2 lakh crore has been laid, generating 1.64 lakh employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister reassured industrialists of a conducive business climate in the state, saying bureaucratic hurdles have been removed and sector-specific incentives are in place.
“The administration is always ready to extend a helping hand to investors and resolve their challenges promptly,” he assured.
Majhi also invoked the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign, urging industries to actively participate by planting trees in their operational areas.
He announced that on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Odisha has pledged to plant 75 lakh trees in a single day. “Development and environmental conservation should go hand in hand,” he added.
During the event, the Chief Minister felicitated industrialists associated with the new projects and virtually laid the foundation for projects in Ganjam, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Koraput, and Angul districts.
Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, in his remarks, said Odisha’s industry-friendly ecosystem and efficient administration have transformed the state into a preferred investment destination.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja underlined the importance of determination and willpower for success, while Development Commissioner Anu Garg also addressed the gathering.
Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Hemant Sharma delivered the welcome address, and Skill Development Commissioner Bhupendra Singh Poonia proposed the vote of thanks.
