Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan to assess the progress of special development projects proposed in Cuttack district. The meeting was attended by Cuttack District Collector Dattatreya Bhausaheb Shinde and senior officials from various state departments.

The discussions centered on multiple projects aimed at urban development, infrastructure expansion, and industrial revival in Cuttack. Key projects reviewed included the development of OMP Square with a vending zone, IT park, and convention center; finalization of designs for shops, residences, and a vending zone at Ranihat Square; and improvement of the Government Press land at Khapuria, including road construction, garden development, and a vending facility near the statue of Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab.

Plans for the integrated development of Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das’s birthplace at Satyabhamapur were also reviewed. Road-widening works from Trishulia Square to Nandankanan via Barang, the proposal for a barrage on Mahanadi River to meet flood control, industrial, irrigation, and drinking water needs, and revival of the Baramba Sugar Factory also featured in the discussions.

Updates were shared on the handloom project at Nuapatna, revival of the Bhagatpur Spinning Mill, and implementation of the Welsun Textiles project. The establishment of cold storage facilities across Cuttack, Banki, Athagarh, and other areas, as well as proposed development at Naraj and the construction of Small-Scale and Medium Enterprises (SSME) facilities were also reviewed.

The Chief Secretary directed officials to expedite the projects and instructed the Cuttack District Collector to resolve issues affecting implementation. He emphasized close coordination between the district administration and departmental secretaries to ensure smooth execution.
