Bhubaneswar: With the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session beginning tomorrow, the Commissionerate Police has taken extensive security measures to ensure smooth and safe proceedings.
According to sources, a three-tier security system will be in place during the session, with 30 platoons of police force deployed to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, barricading has been done around the Assembly and surrounding areas. Vehicle movement restrictions have been implemented on roads surrounding the Assembly, with only emergency vehicles allowed to pass through the restricted areas.
In addition to the police force, the security arrangement will also comprise a striking force, STF, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and fire brigade to ensure a comprehensive security cover.
Besides, CCTV cameras have been installed at various locations , including the Assembly, Lower PMG, and Rabindra Mandap to monitor the situation, and five temporary police control rooms have been set up at the Assembly gate, Rabindra Mandap gate, and Lower PMG to avoid untoward incidents and ensure the safety of MLAs, officials, and other stakeholders.
According to the sources, armed security forces will be deployed around the Assembly, and plainclothes police will monitor suspicious activity.
Director General of Police Y B Khurania will soon inspect the security arrangements to ensure an incident-free session.
