Soro (Balasore): Tension gripped Soro in Balasore district after unidentified miscreants attacked a pediatrician near College Square here on Wednesday evening.
The victim, Dr. Braja Sundar Swain, a well-known child specialist in the area, was leaving his clinic when six youths reportedly assaulted him from behind with a sharp weapon, inflicting a grievous injury on his neck.
Local residents rushed the critically injured doctor to a private clinic in Soro, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is stated to be serious.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and efforts are on to identify and trace the assailants.
