Bhubaneswar: The body of an 8-year-old girl, who had gone missing after being allegedly abducted from Radhanathpur village under Basudebpur municipality area in Bhadrak district, was recovered from the Coast Canal near her home on Thursday.
According to reports, the girl was playing with her sister near her home on Saturday when she was allegedly abducted. A police team, led by Bhadrak Superintendent of Poilce Manoj Rout, Additional Superintendent of Police (ADSP), and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), along with the Inspectors of Basudebpur, Chudamani, and Nayakanidihi police stations launched a search operation and deployed various teams, including the Odisha Rapid Action Force (ORAF) and the fire brigade, to trace the girl. Police also collected various samples and reviewed CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator.
On Wednesday, Eastern Range DIG Pinak Mishra visited the spot and oversaw the investigation.
However, the body was recovered after a thorough search operation, and it is suspected that the girl was murdered and thrown into the canal. The police are investigating the case from various angles and are working to identify the perpetrator.
The recovery of the body has sent shockwaves in the area, and the police are working to bring the perpetrator to justice.
