Bhubaneswar: The Congress party on Thursday brought a no-confidence motion against the BJP government in Odisha with party MLAs submitting a memorandum in support of the move. The motion was placed before the Speaker through the Assembly Secretary.
According to Congress leaders, they have the backing of 15 MLAs for this motion. CPI(M) MLA Laxman Munda has reportedly extended his support to the motion. However, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has yet to announce its support for the no-confidence motion.
Notably, the Congress party has been critical of the government’s handling of various issues and has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Congress leaders stated that the BJP government led by Mohan Charan Majhi failed to act on issues such as the safety of women, maintaining law and order, problems faced by farmers, dalits, tribals and OBCs, for which the party decided to bring a no-confidence motion against it.
