Bhubaneswar: The murder investigation of lady traffic constable Shubhamitra has taken a significant turn with the case being upgraded to the ‘Red Flag’ category, ensuring a high-priority probe.
With the Crime Branch now directly overseeing the probe under the supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Crime Branch, every aspect of the case will be meticulously examined. The probe agency will also provide crucial support to the Commissionerate Police, revealed sources.
The decision to categorize the case under ‘Red Flag’ reflects the sensitivity and importance attached to solving this heinous crime. It implies that the investigation will be conducted with utmost priority, utilizing all available resources to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to sources, the Crime Branch will re-examine all evidence collected by the Capital and Khuntuni police stations to strengthen the case. The investigation will also look into the suspicious circumstances surrounding accused Deepak Rout’s first wife Aparna’s death to determine if there is any connection between the two incidents. With the ‘Red Flag’ classification, the Crime Branch is expected to work diligently to complete the investigation and file a charge sheet within the stipulated time frame.
