Cuttack: The family of Aparna Priyadarshini, the first wife of Deepak Rout, has lodged a complaint at the Khuntuni police station, seeking a reinvestigation into her death. Aparna’s younger sister, Rojalin Rout, filed the complaint, alleging that Deepak Rout might have been involved in her sister’s death for insurance benefits.
Aparna Priyadarshini died in a road accident on March 17, 2022, while traveling from Dhenkanal to Cuttack. However, her family now suspects foul play, citing Deepak’s alleged involvement in the murder of his second wife, Subhamitra Sahoo, a lady constable. Deepak Rout is currently under arrest for allegedly murdering Subhamitra Sahoo, and her body was found buried in Keonjhar.
Aparna’s sister Rojalin Rout stated that her family was initially convinced by Deepak’s account of the accident but now believes it might have been a planned murder. “We suspect my sister’s death is not due to an accident. As the accused Deepak Rout strangled his second wife Subhamitra, he could have done similar offenses in the case of my sister,” Rojalin said. The police have assured the family that they will investigate the matter thoroughly and deliver justice.
Two senior police officers, DSP Umakant Nayak and Cuttack Rural Additional Superintendent of Police, visited the Khuntuni police station following Rojalin’s complaint. The case is likely to be reopened, and a high-level probe will be conducted.
