Bhubaneswar: The ongoing Enforcement Special Drive has intensified its efforts to curb illegal trade in the state, resulting in significant seizures and arrests. On the 18th day of the drive, authorities seized contraband worth Rs 1.60 crore and detected 254 cases, leading to the arrest of 153 individuals involved in illicit activities.
The enforcement teams seized substantial quantities of liquor, including 10,606 bulk litres of ID liquor, 603 bulk litres of duty-paid liquor, and 11 litres of duplicate liquor. Over 1,07,523 litres of wash used in illicit distillation were also destroyed. Additionally, 20 vehicles engaged in illegal transportation were seized.
The drive has also made significant progress in curbing narcotics-related offences, registering 13 NDPS cases and recovering 163 kilograms of ganja and 245 grams of heroin. The Special Drive continues to focus on dismantling networks involved in liquor and narcotics smuggling, ensuring strong deterrence against such illegal activities.
