Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Expresses Grief Over Singer Zubeen Garg’s Demise

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief over the demise of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away in a scuba diving accident in Singapore on Friday.

Majhi took to social media, writing, “Saddened by the demise of renowned singer Zubeen Garg. He will be remembered for his invaluable contribution to music. May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath bless his soul and give strength to his family and admirers in this time of grief. Om Shanti.”

The 52-year-old Assamese singer was in Singapore for the North East India Festival, where he was scheduled to perform on September 20 and 21.

Zubeen Garg was a celebrated singer known for his soulful voice and versatility, with hits like “Ya Ali” from the film “Gangster” that catapulted him to national fame. He sang in multiple languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, and others, earning him a massive following across India.

Tributes have poured in from prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and actor Adil Hussain, who praised Garg’s extraordinary contribution to Assamese music and culture.
