Bhubaneswar: The  have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the 150 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) Bahuda Satellite Port in Odisha. The project carries an investment commitment of Rs 21,500 crore.

The proposed Bahuda Port will be Odisha’s second major Union-government-backed port after Paradip and is designed to handle large dry bulk carriers and container vessels. Located in Ganjam district, this deep-sea facility will decongest existing ports, reduce logistics costs, and unlock new trade opportunities for mineral-rich hinterlands in Odisha and neighbouring states.

The MoU was formally exchanged between PPA Chairman P.L. Haranadh, OMB Chairperson Usha Padhee, and SFCL Managing Director Vikas Narwal. The Bahuda Port will operate in tandem with Paradip Port, and both ports will work closely to boost regional and national economic growth.

The project is part of the Maritime India Vision 2030 and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aimed at strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure.
