Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police’s Coastal Security Wing marked International Coastal Clean-up Day with a state-wide drive across all 18 Marine Police Stations in the state’s coastal districts. This initiative aimed to clean up the coastline and raise awareness about marine pollution.
Police personnel, along with officials from the Departments of Fisheries and Forest, participated in the drive. Four Marine Police Stations were assigned the challenging task of cleaning uninhabited islands, showcasing the police’s commitment to preserving marine biodiversity. Fishermen communities and local stakeholders also joined the initiative, making it a collective effort for a cleaner and greener coastline.
The clean-up efforts were led by inspectors Babita Deury, Bimal Kumar Mallick, and Champabati Soren, who took the initiative to ecologically fragile and remote areas.
Around 350 police personnel actively participated in the drive, underscoring the importance of protecting the marine environment. The event highlighted the Odisha Police’s dedication to environmental conservation and community engagement.
