Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred in Keonjhar district when a 65-year-old man, Narottam Mahanat, was killed by a tusker elephant while he was answering nature’s call near a pond in Jodapokhari village. The elephant, which had separated from its herd, attacked Mahanat, resulting in his instant death.
In a separate incident, a woman was critically injured in a bear attack in Nilagiri, Balasore district. Kanak Swain sustained serious injuries to her head and ear when the bear suddenly attacked her while she was defecating in a field. She has been admitted to the Nilgiri Sub-divisional Hospital for treatment.
