Bhubaneswar: A total of 1,934,412 women became pregnant in the state in the last three years. Out of these, 17,60,577 women had deliveries in healthcare facilities, while 14,424 deliveries took place at home. It was revealed by Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling in the Odisha Assembly today.
The Minister was responding to a question posed by MLA Kadraka Appala Swamy, who sought data on pregnancies, deliveries, and mortality rates over the past three years.
According to the Minister, apart from the deliveries, the state reported 23,130 newborn deaths and 34,284 stillbirths during the same period. Furthermore, 2,064 maternal deaths were reported during the period.
