Bhubaneswar: A severe landslide has occurred near the Mankadajhola waterfall in the Bonda Ghati area of Khairaput block, resulting in the disruption of road connectivity to Bonda Ghati.
According to reports, the heavy rainfall in the region has caused a significant amount of water to flow through the waterfall, leading to the landslide that washed away a portion of the road connecting Mudulipada to Bonda Ghati.
The landslide has isolated Bonda Ghati, causing inconvenience to the local residents and commuters.
Upon receiving information about the landslide, Khairaput Block Development Officer Uma Shankar Koya, Tehsildar Braja Bihari Pradhan, and engineers from the Roads and Buildings department promptly visited the site to assess the situation and explore possible solutions.
According to locals, the area is prone to landslides and road damage during heavy rainfall due to the fragile terrain. Intellectuals and residents have suggested that constructing a strong retaining wall and a high-level bridge near the waterfall could prevent such incidents in the future.
The administration is working to restore road connectivity and ensure the safety of the residents. In the meantime, residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid traveling to the affected area until further notice.
