Bhubaneswar: A total of 101 child labourers were rescued in Odisha in last three years, informed Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Minister of Labour and Employees State Insurance.
Replying to a query raised by MLA Upasana Mohapatra on the number of child labourers rescued in the state over the past three years, the Minister provided details on the rescue of child labourers in Odisha.
According to the Minister, a total of 101 child labourers were rescued in Odisha between 2022-23 and 2024-25. The Minister also provided a district-wise breakdown of the rescued child labourers and informed that the rescued children were handed over to the District Child Welfare Committees for rehabilitation.
The Minister further stated that 116 cases have been registered against employers who engaged child labourers.
