Sundargarh: A late-night quarrel over alcohol ended in tragedy when a man killed his friend during a drunken altercation in Bandubahal under Dharuadihi police station limits.
The deceased, identified as Sunil Sunani of Bandubahal village, had gone to a nearby market on Monday along with his friend Gagan Sahu of Tileimalti village. On their way back, both reportedly intoxicated, a heated argument broke out between the two near Bandubahal.
In a fit of rage, Gagan repeatedly punched Sunil in the mouth, causing him to collapse and die on the spot. After the incident, Gagan fled to his village.
Sunil’s wife, Sunasini Sunani, lodged a complaint with Dharuadihi police around 2 AM. Police rushed to the scene, began investigations, and sent the body for post-mortem on Tuesday morning. The accused was later arrested from Tileimalti village and produced in court.
