Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has apprehended a Revenue Inspector (RI) of Radhaballavpur under Dhamnagar Tahasil in Bhadrak district, for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.
Nagendra Kumar Das, allegedly demanded Rs 7,000 from a complainant for submitting a favourable enquiry report to the Tahasildar of Dhamnagar for mutation cases related to land records. The complainant had earlier paid Rs 2,000, and after negotiations, the RI agreed to accept Rs 4,000 as the final instalment.
A team of Odisha Vigilance officials laid a trap and caught Das red-handed while accepting the bribe in front of the RI office. The entire bribe amount was recovered and seized. Simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Das to investigate potential disproportionate assets.
A case, has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is currently in progress
