Ex-Consolidation Officer Convicted In DA Case, Gets 2-Yrs RI

Bhubaneswar: Special Vigilance Court, Cuttack on Thursday convicted former Consolidation Officer of Kujanga in Jagatsinghpur district, Bishnupada Grahacharya for possessing disproportionate assets (DA).

The court sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of ₹50,000.

Grahacharya, who had retired from service, was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance has stated that it will move the competent authority to stop Grahacharya’s pension, in line with rules governing service benefits of convicted public servants.
