Khordha: In a swift and coordinated operation, Khordha Police rescued a kidnapped businessman within 12 hours of the incident being reported and arrested five accused persons involved in the crime.
According to the police, the victim, Sushil Kumar Subudhi, a wholesale trader operating under Smruti Agency in Balugaon Bazar, was abducted late on September 27 while returning home after work. His wife, Tilatama Subudhi, lodged a complaint the next day after receiving suspicious calls, including a ransom demand of ₹1 crore from unknown persons.
Acting promptly on the complaint, a special police team was formed under the direction of SP Khordha Vivekanand Sharma and supervision of SDPO Balugaon Sanjaya Kumar Pattnaik. The team, comprising officers from Balugaon and Tangi Police Stations, tracked the accused with the help of technical surveillance and human intelligence.
During the operation, police intercepted a car carrying the accused. After a chase near Cuttack Sahara village under Chandapur Police Station limits, and with the support of local villagers from Cuttack Sahara and Benta, the police rescued the victim and apprehended all five accused.
The raid led to the seizure of the vehicle used in the crime, over ₹6.25 lakh in cash, three mobile phones, two swords, a knife, and a gold finger ring belonging to the victim. The timely intervention ensured the safe return of the businessman and recovery of valuables.
SP Khordha lauded the efforts of the raiding team for cracking the case within 12 hours of reporting and assured that further investigation is underway.
