Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has embarked on Swachhata Pakhwada, a two-week intensive cleanliness campaign starting today, reaffirming its commitment to a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment across its jurisdiction.
To mark the day, Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager of East Coast Railway, administered the Swachhata pledge to officers and staff, stressing the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining hygiene. Employees pledged to keep their surroundings clean and motivate fellow citizens to join the nationwide cleanliness drive.
The campaign was simultaneously launched across all ECoR Divisions, with officers and employees conducting extensive cleanliness drives at railway stations, trains, offices, workshops, depots, hospitals, and residential colonies.
As part of the initiative, ECoR employees have resolved to dedicate 100 hours annually to cleanliness activities and encourage at least 100 others to actively participate. This initiative is in line with the theme of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 – ‘Swachhotsav’ – which seeks to turn sanitation efforts into a community celebration, while also recognising the invaluable contributions of sanitation workers.
Through these collective efforts, East Coast Railway continues its journey towards ensuring sustainable cleanliness standards, fostering a spirit of responsibility, and working together for a brighter, healthier tomorrow.
