Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out at a cement block factory in Tichhini village under Krushna Prasad block of Puri district on Wednesday.
According to reports, the fire started around 1 pm when workers were reportedly cooking inside the premises. The blaze is suspected to have originated from a gas cylinder. The situation escalated after three more gas cylinders stored on-site exploded, triggering a massive inferno.
Thick smoke and flames were seen billowing from the factory, alarming nearby residents. Nearly seven workers present at the time had a narrow escape.
On being informed, fire personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control. No casualties were reported till the time of reporting.
