Bhubaneswar: A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death and his relative was critically injured in an attack at Turla village under Jharbandha block in Bargarh district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Mantu Bariha, a resident of Turla village.
According to reports, Mantu had gone to Dava village to witness the Durga Puja celebrations on the occasion of Maha Navami when the incident took place around 3 pm.
While the exact motive is yet to be confirmed, initial reports suggest the attack may have stemmed from a past enmity. Mantu was allegedly stabbed by an unidentified assailant. When his relative attempted to intervene, he too was attacked and sustained critical injuries. The injured relative was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
Upon receiving information, the police reached the scene, arrested the accused, and initiated an investigation.
