Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Red Warning’ for scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy falls, along with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph.
This severe weather is expected at one or two locations in Odisha’s districts within the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, the ‘Red Warning’ specifically applies to the districts of Jagatsinghpur and Puri, where heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are very likely.
The IMD has also released an ‘Orange Warning’ for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with similar wind speeds in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, and Dhenkanal.
Meanwhile, a ‘Yellow Warning’ has been issued for isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with gusty winds up to 50 kmph in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, and Keonjhar. Thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching 30-40 kmph are also expected in Nuapada, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh.
Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay updated with weather forecasts as the situation evolves.
