Bhubaneswar: Continuous rainfall over the past several hours triggered a landslide in Gajapati district on Thursday, severely disrupting connectivity in the Mohana region. The landslide has blocked the crucial ghat road linking Paniganda in Gajapati to Chandrapur in the neighbouring Rayagada district.
According to reports, the incident occurred near the Gardama Panchayat area, where water-saturated soil gave way following heavy overnight showers. A portion of the ghat road collapsed, causing long queues of stranded vehicles and hindering the movement of rescue and emergency services.
Loose soil and uprooted trees have further compounded the situation, completely obstructing vehicular traffic on the stretch. Local residents are actively assessing the damage and clearing debris to restore connectivity to the area.
