Bhubaneswar: Odia superstar Anubhav Mohanty has expressed his frustration and disappointment over the lack of screen space for Odia films in local cinema theatres. Despite being houseful, Odia movies are being removed from theaters to make way for other regional and Hindi films.
In a tweet, Mohanty has appealed to the Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, to intervene in the matter and ensure that Odia films get their rightful respect and equal space in Odisha’s theatres.
Mohanty believes this is an injustice to Odisha’s art, culture, and people, and is seeking the Chief Minister’s intervention to address the matter.
Taking to his X handle, he wrote, “Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha Ji. On this sacred Dussehra, Odia Cinema faced its darkest day – houseful Odia movies were removed from theatres to make way for other regional & Hindi films. This is gross injustice to Odisha’s own art, culture, and people. We humbly appeal to you to stand with the Odia Cinema Family and ensure that our films get their rightful respect and equal space in Odisha’s theatres.”
