Jharsuguda: A surprise raid was carried out on Saturday morning at the District Jail in Jharsuguda under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police (SP). The operation led to the recovery of banned items, including bidis, bhang, and matchboxes, from inside the prison premises.
Officials said the seized articles were destroyed following proper procedures. The raid was conducted with the participation of senior district officers, both Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Inspectors-in-Charge (IICs) of Jharsuguda Town, Sadar, and Airport police stations, along with two platoons of force.
Authorities said the exercise was aimed at tightening security inside the jail and curbing the circulation of illegal substances among inmates.
