Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended internet restrictions in Cuttack for the next 24 hours. The restriction, which came into effect from 7:00 PM on October 6, 2025, will remain in place until 7:00 PM on October 7, 2025.

According to the notification issued by the Home Department, the decision to restrict internet services has been taken in view of apprehensions of misuse of social networking sites and instant messaging services by anti-social elements to spread rumours and incite disaffection among the public.

The restriction includes Mobile internet/data services of all mobile service providers, Broadband dial-up systems, Internet/data services of all internet service providers (ISPs), social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Instagram, Snapchat, and other similar services

However, government internet and intranet-based services, such as OSWAN (Odisha State Wide Area Network), NIC Net, NKN (National Knowledge Network), Banking, Railways, and Other government services are exempted from the restriction.

The restriction applies to Cuttack City Areas, including Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Area, Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) Area, and 42 Mauza Region.

Violating the order will attract legal action under the relevant provisions of the law, the notification stated.
