Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in several districts of Odisha on October 7 and 8.
A trough persists over north coastal Odisha to east Telangana, and an upper air cyclonic circulation is visible over northeast Jharkhand.
The affected districts include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. The IMD has warned of gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph in these areas.
Recently, several districts in Odisha experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly Keonjhar, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, and Gajapati. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid travelling during thunderstorms. The IMD continues to monitor the weather situation and will issue updates as necessary.
