Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja on Tuesday visited the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) Head Office and the Gadakana Electric Bus Depot to review public transport operations and assess the expanding electric bus network in the capital region.
During his visit, Ahuja interacted with bus crew members, guides, and technical staff to understand their on-ground experiences and challenges in maintaining safe, efficient, and commuter-friendly services.
At the CRUT Command and Control Centre, he reviewed real-time monitoring systems, data analytics dashboards, and schedule optimization tools that support punctuality and improve commuter satisfaction.
Appreciating CRUT’s initiatives, Ahuja commended the team for its innovative use of digital technology in transport management and urged them to uphold high service standards while promoting green and sustainable mobility. He also stressed the need to further expand electric bus operations to make urban transport cleaner and more environment-friendly.
CRUT Managing Director N. Thirumala Naik briefed the Chief Secretary on current operations and upcoming projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of Bhubaneswar’s public transport network.
Senior officials, including General Managers Sanjaya Biswal and Sahadeb Samadhia, were also present during the review. Officials said the visit underlines the State Government’s strong commitment to smart, efficient, and eco-friendly urban mobility.
