Bhubaneswar: In a decisive move ahead of the upcoming Nuapada Assembly bye election, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday announced the formation of specialized committees to strengthen its campaign structure and coordination across the constituency.
The decision, formalized through an order issued by party president Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday, reflects the BJD’s intent to mount a comprehensive organizational push in the politically sensitive western Odisha district.
According to the office order, three core panels have been constituted — a Steering Committee, a Zonal Committee, and a Local Action Committee — each designed to handle different layers of the party’s election strategy.
In the Steering Committee is Prasanna Acharya, a veteran BJD leader and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Odisha Assembly. He will be joined by Niranjan Pujari, Snehangini Chhuria, Tukuni Sahoo, and Niranjan Bisi. The apex body will oversee campaign policy, resource deployment, and inter-committee coordination during the by-election, which was called following the demise of the incumbent MLA.
The Zonal Committee, responsible for managing six Zilla Parishad (ZP) zones and four Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) zones, includes prominent regional figures such as Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Sarada Nayak, Sudarshan Nayak, Debesh Acharya, Saroj Meher, Manohar Randhari, Rohit Pujari, Jogesh Singh, and Bikram Panda.
At the grassroots level, a Local Action Committee, comprising of Adhiraj Panigrahi Abani Joshi and Manoj Mishra, will focus on booth-level mobilization, voter engagement, and community outreach.
The order, issued from the BJD headquarters at Sankha Bhawan, takes immediate effect, signaling the party’s urgency to fortify its organizational presence amid a competitive electoral climate.
