Ward Member Released After Week-Long Abduction In Jajpur

Bhubaneswar:  A ward member of Ranpur Panchayat’s Ward no-3 in Jajpur district was released by his abductors on Wednesday night, a week after he was kidnapped.

According to reports, ward member Dhaneswar Sethy was abducted on October 1, and a case was registered at the Binjharpur police station. His whereabouts were unknown until Wednesday. The abductors reportedly dropped him off near the Binjharpur police station in Jajpur late Wednesday evening.

According to his family, Sethy was kidnapped to prevent him from voting in the no-confidence motion scheduled for October 8.

However, further details about the kidnapping and release are yet to be disclosed. Police investigation is underway to uncertain the exact reason behind abduction.
