Bhubaneswar: A CRPF head constable, who had sustained serious injuries in a landmine blast that occurred in the Saranda forest on Friday, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday.
Mahendra Laskar was part of a joint operation by the CRPF and district police to dismantle Naxal setups and recover hidden IEDs.
According to reports, the blast occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Babudera area of Saranda Forest. Laskar and other injured personnel, including CRPF Inspector K.K. Mishra and ASI Ramkrishna Gagrai, were rushed to Apollo Hospital in Rourkela for treatment. Unfortunately, Laskar’s condition deteriorated, and he was declared dead at around 4 am today.
