Deogarh: In a tragic incident of human-elephant conflict, a 41-year-old farmer was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in Khuladihi village under the Laimura section of Deogarh Forest Range on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Shobharam Rohidas, a resident of the same village.
According to reports, Shobharam had gone to his farmland in the evening when a herd of elephants suddenly appeared and attacked him.
Villagers rushed to his aid and immediately shifted him to the Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Upon receiving the information, forest department officials reached the spot, conducted a preliminary inquiry, and have launched an investigation into the incident.
The latest incident has triggered fear and tension among villagers living close to forest areas, who have urged the department to take preventive measures to avoid further loss of life.
