Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph. The adverse weather conditions are expected to persist till October 15.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, on October 13, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also likely in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.
On October 14, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30–40 kmph) are expected in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
The yellow warning continues on October 15 for Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts, where similar weather conditions are very likely.
The IMD further stated that no warnings have been issued for the four days following October 15, indicating a likely improvement in weather conditions thereafter.
