Bhubaneswar: In a dramatic turn of events, a massive cache of explosives was seized from a residential area in Padmanabhpur village under Baisinga police station in Mayurbhanj district. The explosives were stored in a locked room without the knowledge of the villagers, sparking fears of a potential disaster.
According to reports, Sameer Panda, a resident of Baisinga area, owns several asbestos houses in the village, some of which are rented out to tenants. On Wednesday evening, SDPO Minati Biswal led a raid on the village based on a tip-off. The police team found a locked house that belonged to Panda, and after breaking the lock, they were shocked to find a huge quantity of explosives stored inside.
The police seized 107 sacks of explosives, including metal powder and gunpowder, from the house. Panda has been detained and is being interrogated by the police. The explosives have been brought to the police station for safekeeping.
