Bhubaneswar: A meeting of the state-level monitoring committee under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign was held in the Conference Hall of the Forest Department to review the protection, survival, and healthy growth of plantations as per the detailed guidelines framed for the programme.

Chairing the meeting, Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, emphasized that the success of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ depends on the survival and growth of the saplings rather than on mere plantation numbers.

He urged all departments and field officers to take utmost care and ensure the protection and nurturing of the planted trees in accordance with the official guidelines.

The meeting, held about a month after the mass plantation drive on September 17, 2025, also reviewed the implementation of the three-tier monitoring and accountability framework introduced through the consolidated instructions issued on September 22, 2025.

Detailed deliberations were held on the issued guidelines, and a presentation on the ORSAC-based monitoring web portal was made. The portal will serve as a unified platform to track plantation survival and growth across the State. It was also decided to organize training programmes for field-level officers to ensure effective utilization of the system.

The Additional Chief Secretary expressed gratitude to all Districts and Departments for their coordinated efforts and active participation. He remarked that the true success of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ lies not merely in planting trees, but in ensuring their sustained survival and healthy growth.

The meeting was attended by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force (PCCF & HoFF), Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, senior officers from Agriculture, Panchayati Raj, Horticulture, and Odisha Remote Sensing Application Centre (ORSAC), along with all District Collectors, Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs), and Chief Development Officers (CDOs).
